Skin fitness: I like to think of our approach to skin much like I would a fitness regime. It's easy to understand that in order to gain muscle, get stronger, build endurance, that these are a combination of skills and a mind-set that will move you towards the fitness goal you have your keen eye on. If you were serious about achieving this goal, you might consider a coach/ personal trainer whose expertise we would rely on and hopefully they would support you to work towards your goal. They would understand much about you as a whole person. Your diet, lifestyle, expectations and goals, and would essentially draw up a fitness plan, bespoke to you and your needs and together you would work towards that goal.
Your skin journey is parallel in many ways. Just like you wouldn't expect to be an athlete after one session at the gym, one facial is not going to produce any long-term benefits.
Now this doesn't mean that you have to be the latest skin fundi, that dedicates hours to your skin and spend all your money on skincare to get results. It's important to me as a skin specialist to meet my clients where they are in their skin and health journey.
That said, before any of this, the true soul work is where real change starts to happen. That mental shift; the lens through which you view yourself is big part of my own personal why, and this I aspire to transcend through into my coaching. At the core of it all, it's my goal to help you love your skin at every stage of life.
Arriving at that ah-ha moment and the realization that caring for yourself and your skin is more than a chore - that it's a great act of self-love. Only then, will it become clear and makes sense that you would organically want to show up committed, disciplined and consistent- how ever that may look for you.
Commitment:
Commitment is showing up for yourself even on days you don't feel like it. A quote I love: "Motivation is what gets you started, commitment is what keeps you going." Showing up, even on days you don't want to, will evolve into habits and take over as something you do without even thinking about.
Discipline:
Discipline is like a reliable side kick that makes life a whole lot smoother. Think of it like a superhero power that keeps you on track. Its the secret sauce for getting stuff done, helping you stick to your routine and and show up when it really counts.
Consistency:
When you are consistent, whether its in habits, or efforts you build trust, get better at things and create a rhythm that keeps things ticking. Whether you give 100% of your effort today or 10% tomorrow, its important that you don't stop. It's way easier to keep the momentum going than start from scratch every time!
Taking care of your skin isn't just about looking good. It's like giving your body a big hug. Your skin does a lot for you, so giving it some love is a win-win. It's not just about getting that glow (though that's a nice bonus), but it's also about keeping your body's biggest defender in top shape.
